Anxiety Attack Medication
Studies have shown that some people whom experience anxiety attack symptoms consider them to be the most traumatizing experiences of
their lives.
Because of the trauma people experience during anxiety attacks it is only natural that they try to desperate things to alleviate
their anxiety attack symptoms or prevent them from happening again.
Usually people will turn to medication because of the convenience and is considered an easy way out. Oftentimes the fear will be so intense
during an anxiety attack that the victim feels powerless to fight it and the medication is considered a way to cope with the symptoms
instead of fighting the symptoms with mental therapy.
For this reason alone it is unfortunate that people choose medicine because it can be a sign of people giving up and letting the anxiety
attack disorder win the battle over their lives. The two main ingredients in medications that are used to suppress anxiety attack symptoms are
known as benzodiazepines and Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors (SSRIs). These may not show results until several weeks after the medication
is prescribed. Benzodiazepines will usually show results quicker, but must be taken several times a day, has a hefty price tag and has a bad
number of side effects.
Doctors often will easily prescribe SSRIs and benzodiazepines because they are quick fix to someone suffering from anxiety attacks
symptoms. The reality is the bigger problem is that people will try to medicate a problem that can be otherwise treated a better way. The
medication only does the job of suppressing the symptoms instead of solving the root of the problem in the person.
The truth is that medication is not the only solution. In a majority of cases, people only need the proper guidance and the determination to
improve their mental well being to be free from panic attack symptoms.
Medications can be a mind killer because they cause people to be dependant and therefore lose confidence that they can fight the problem on their
own or a different way.
Not only this but medications are known to lose their effectiveness over time which will result in people needing more and more of the drug to
alleviate the symptoms over time.
